Helping Dogs
Our founder Erika Bocardo grew up on the streets of Lima, Peru. She played in the catacombs beneath the Basilica Cathedral, burial place of Francisco Pizarro. She always loved the street dogs, and cared for as many as she could during her young life.
Dogs are innocent, and they suffer greatly from neglect and abuse, from disease and hunger. In many countries, dogs are killed in large numbers when overpopulation and unsanitary conditions create human health risks from rabies and communicable diseases.
Within the United States, organizations such as SPCA and others exist to protect animals, however the system is not perfect and many dogs are subjected to inhumane forms of euthanasia. Also there is a revolving door at some shelters, where dogs are returned to cages because they have not been rehabilitated. New adoptive owners need training to break this cycle.
We founded Dog Saviors to protect and defend abandoned and homeless dogs, to educate people about dogs, and to help support shelters and veterinary programs where the need is greatest.
